Why People Buy Used Porsche 911 Autos

Sports cars are a luxury most people cannot afford to have. Sure, these cars have better engineering, more stylish designs, and more luxurious features, but all of these make them more expensive than the average car. To many, the only way to acquire a sports car, is to buy a pre-owned, or “used” one. For fans of fast cars, they often buy used Porsche 911 cars.

What makes the “Nine-Eleven” so popular is its classic appeal. Primarily, the 911′s style and design has changed little over the decades. The design of sleek lines, accentuated by muscular sections, has become an icon in the automotive industry. In fact, many people, even young kids who know little about cars, will usually think about the shape of the 911 when they hear the name Porsche.

The first 911 was rolled off the factory in 1963, and was well received by many car fans and automotive industry experts. Soon after, the Porsche 911 Turbo followed suit. The Turbo, known as the 930 in the U.S., was first introduced in 1974. It had faster speed and acceleration, but suffered from turbo lag from its turbocharger. It also had poor handling, which made it challenging to drive. Nevertheless, despite the shortcomings, the 911 Turbo became popular, and continued to evolve as the normal 911 did.

Today, the 911 and the 911 Turbo are a far cry from their original models. The first 911 sported an air-cooled engine that could only produce around 185 horsepower. That was, however, still above average at the time. Today, the 911 carries under the hood a water-cooled engine capable of pumping out 350 horsepower or more.

And the modern 911 Turbo is capable of producing a mind-bending 473 brake horsepower, using its 3.6litre twin-turbocharged engine. It rockets the car from 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds, and is an ideal choice for car aficionados and Porsche fans everywhere.

Aside from the power and speed of the 911, its level of luxury is also notable. The interior is made of the finest leather, and each variant through the years has offered advanced electronics. Inside, the driver could feel the prestige of the car and the brand, which is also known for high-quality German engineering. Today’s 911 and 911 Turbo cars have cutting-edge suspension configurations, transmission systems, braking systems, headlamps, and safety features.

All of these, however, come at a price, which is why to many, buying a used Porsche 911 is the answer. But because of the 911′s classic design, owners of older Porsche 911 cars would still find themselves in-style, and will still turn heads everywhere they go.
